Synopsis

The Antalya Free Trade Zone, founded in 1987 and one of the first of its kind, went on a strike that lasted from September 2006 to December 2007. Through this strike, we understood once again that the exploitative dimension of patriarchal capitalism is the same almost world over, that to resist against this condition it is obligatory to organize, that women’s solidarity is very important. The outstanding particularity of the Novamed was its being a women’s strike. Many women’s organizations in Turkey and throughout the world feminists, unions, confederations, and political parties gave support. This documentary presents the organizing experiences and the organizing conditions of the Novamed women strikers and the fight for their rights.
